Our Foundation has supported the leasing industry by developing a standardized methodology for calculating the carbon footprint of leased assets for the Polish Leasing Association (ZPL). In addition to the methodology, the Foundation also created a database of over 120 benchmarks covering assets financed by leasing companies.

The resulting industry-wide carbon accounting standard represents an innovative solution on a European scale

“We are pleased to have supported the entire leasing sector in developing not only unified industry standards but also more than a hundred indicators that assist in portfolio emission calculations, based on detailed data from ZPL member companies. This initiative is a unique example of sector-wide collaboration in Europe, making it significantly easier to meet CSRD and ESRS requirements while implementing consistent standards across the industry,” said Łukasz Dobrowolski, Director of Climate Strategy and Energy Market at the Climate&Strategy Foundation.

“We have completed the work on a methodology and tool for calculating the carbon footprint in the leasing industry. To our knowledge, no such sector-specific standard exists elsewhere in the European market for calculating the carbon footprint among leasing clients. Our goal is to encourage our clients to reduce their carbon footprint and green their assets. We want the entire leasing sector to use the same standard and apply the same benchmarks to their assets,” said Monika Constant, President of the Polish Leasing Association (ZPL).
