The Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Climate&Strategy Foundation join forces to support companies in the process of climate transformation and emissions reduction. The newly established Forum Economy for Climate will be a coalition of companies aiming to develop political, legal, and social conditions that will effectively protect the climate while maintaining the competitiveness of the Polish economy. By listening to the voice of business, we want to provide the best tools, solutions, and knowledge that can be used by both entrepreneurs and public administration.

The Forum Economy for Climate is the result of cooperation between the Polish Chamber of Commerce and the Climate&Strategy Foundation. The Forum will bring together large companies operating in Poland with extensive supply chains, thereby representing a significant portion of Polish enterprises. In this way, the Forum Economy for Climate will become a strong business voice in the climate transformation process, as well as a platform for sharing knowledge and experience.

In the face of the climate crisis, business also has an important role to play. By reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, it can significantly lessen its negative environmental impact, slow down climate change, and help mitigate its consequences. Moreover, large companies have the power to influence smaller partners by supporting them in understanding and implementing sustainable development principles.

The need to strive for climate neutrality, which faces businesses and industry, is a huge and complex challenge. National and EU regulations require companies to take immediate and effective reduction actions, which is particularly difficult under the conditions of global competitiveness and the unfavorable mix of Poland’s electricity generation and heating sectors. Poland needs its own climate law tailored to national realities, an understanding of the scale of challenges by policymakers, and a well-designed support system for company development in the era of decarbonization.

– The Forum Economy for Climate was created with the aim of supporting companies in the process of climate transformation and emissions reduction. Its goal is to establish a platform for cooperation between entrepreneurs and government and European administration in pursuing the competitiveness of the European economy while achieving climate objectives. We are aware of the additional regulatory burdens that Polish companies must face in the new legal environment and EU requirements. Therefore, the Forum Economy for Climate is also intended to be a cross-sectoral support platform for companies in the areas of sustainable development and climate competitiveness. This initiative aligns with the goals of the Polish Chamber of Commerce, which include supporting Polish entrepreneurs, striving to create a good climate for Polish business, and favorable conditions for its development – says Karolina Opielewicz, Member of the Management Board of the Polish Chamber of Commerce.

As Łukasz Broniewski, Co-founder and Member of the Management Board of the Climate&Strategy Foundation, emphasizes:
– Companies and industry leaders often approach climate transformation actively and pragmatically, remaining open to co-creating optimal legal and administrative conditions for efficient, effective, and measurable emissions reductions and mitigation of climate change. The climate transformation of Polish business is necessary, but it should be carried out in dialogue between the government and entrepreneurs. At the Forum Economy for Climate, we want to create a space for such dialogue. At our Foundation, we combine an understanding of the dilemmas faced today by small, medium, and large companies with attentiveness to the broader climate context, which must not be overlooked. That is why, within this new initiative, we especially count on responsible large companies who care about the wellbeing of the SME sector, which is an important pillar of the Polish economy – concludes Broniewski.

Companies can now express their interest in co-creating the Forum Economy for Climate. Detailed information is available at: fgk@kig.pl
